"Adventures In Paradise" 1959-1962 starring     Gardner McKay. McKay plays a Korean War vet who buys a schooner, the Tiki, and sails off for high adventure, sort of like a Pacific "Route 66" (another TV 60's show about two guys in a Corvette). For the most part McKay was a good guy sailor-detective who helped folks solve their problems and then sailed off into the sunset. The TV show idea was created by James Michener, who sold the TV rights for the production.

Michener also saw his books turned into major films, including "Hawaii" and "The Hawaiians."
